Way Trough Ratabhachta IIb (2000/04)
trombone solo, 15’30

"Ratabhachta" is the name of a narrow lane in the Dublin district Finglas. In 1986 I used the map of this part of the town to compose the variation cycle "Vergessen an Archem (Hier) – I never walked the likely Finglas Ratabhachta".

Still, I’ve never been to Dublin. Nevertheles, since 1997 I began rewriting parts of the first movement of those variations into solo pieces on demand of a number of instrumentalists.

"Way Through Ratabhachta II" was encouraged by trombonist Patrick Crossland.
